The Discone

 

Life-Size Sculpture

The Discone stands over five feet tall (or at least it was supposed to before the clay shrank and I chopped off the tip of the cone), is ridiculously heavy (not to mention fragile), and consists of two parts, the base and the tip. Following along with the theme from my Egg Dance sculptures, I glazed The Discone with a colorful underglaze grid and also added a trail of squares spiraling up around the cone from the base. The whole sculpture took nearly half a semester to complete.
